A Greece itinerary of 14 days gives you time for Athens and two islands without changing hotels every other night. For a first visit focused on history, local food and relaxed island stays, our suggested route is Athens → Naxos → Santorini → Athens: three nights in Athens, five on Naxos, four on Santorini and a final night in Athens before departure.

This is a Greece-only planning guide, not a fixed package or a promise that every connection operates on your dates. The 14 days start with arrival in Greece and include 13 hotel nights. If you are flying overnight from the United States, allow the outbound travel day separately when requesting time off.

Prefer help with the logistics? Our custom Greece tours connect your hotel stays, private airport and port transfers, island transport and selected experiences in one itinerary, with local teams supporting you during the journey.

14 days in Greece at a glance

  • Days 1–3: Athens, three nights. Settle in, visit the Acropolis and leave time for neighbourhood walks and museums.

  • Days 4–8: Naxos, five nights. Combine the old town, a cooking class, villages and unhurried beach time.

  • Days 9–12: Santorini, four nights. Explore island villages, choose your hotel setting carefully and leave room for a sunset cruise and a free day.

  • Day 13: Return to Athens, one night. Build a buffer before your international departure.

  • Day 14: Fly home. Arrange your airport transfer around the confirmed flight time.

The final Athens night is a planning buffer, not a guarantee against disruption. If a suitable international departure from Santorini works for your dates, the ending can be redesigned before tickets are purchased.

Days 1–3: Athens without rushing the first day

Day 1: Arrive and settle in

Arrange a private airport-to-hotel transfer and keep the rest of the day light. A short walk and an early dinner are usually more comfortable after an overnight flight than a tightly scheduled sightseeing programme. Confirm check-in arrangements in advance; an early arrival does not automatically include immediate access to your room.

Day 2: Acropolis and Athens highlights

Make the Acropolis your main planned visit, with a guided introduction that helps place the monuments in context. Add the Acropolis Museum or time in Plaka if your energy allows. Archaeological sites can involve slopes, steps and uneven surfaces, so tell your planner your preferred walking pace before activities are booked.

Day 3: Choose a cultural day or a quieter Athens stay

Use your second full day for museums, food and neighbourhood exploration, or discuss a Delphi day trip if ancient history is a priority. Delphi is a longer excursion, so it should replace a leisurely city day rather than be squeezed into your arrival or island-transfer day. Our Athens destination guide helps you decide what to prioritize.

Days 4–8: Naxos for food, villages and beach time

Day 4: Travel to Naxos

Choose the ferry or flight arrangement after checking the actual dates, luggage needs and hotel locations. Coordinate the road transfers at both ends and leave the arrival afternoon free. Island travel includes time getting to the terminal, checking in, boarding and reaching the hotel; it is not simply the sailing or flying time.

Day 5: Naxos old town and the Portara

Explore the lanes of Naxos Town, the waterfront and the old quarter. A local walking tour can provide a useful introduction before you explore independently. Consider the Portara area later in the day if the conditions and walking route suit you. Keep comfortable footwear and a relaxed pace in mind rather than planning a long checklist.

Day 6: A Naxos cooking class

A cooking experience is a good anchor for this part of the trip: it gives food lovers time with local ingredients and a different perspective from another sightseeing stop. Confirm dietary requirements, transport, the activity location and whether the session is shared or private when requesting your quote.

Day 7: Villages and countryside

Plan a village outing around your interests, with time for a café or lunch rather than racing between stops. Discuss a private driver or a guided outing if you prefer to avoid arranging your own transport. The driving service and the guide service are different inclusions, so check exactly what is confirmed.

Day 8: Keep a genuinely free day

Spend the day near your hotel, choose beach time or revisit a favourite part of the island. Five nights are useful because they allow an unstructured day between planned experiences. Read our Naxos travel guide for more about the island, or compare Naxos and Paros before fixing your route.

Days 9–12: Santorini at your own pace

Day 9: Travel to Santorini and enjoy your hotel

Confirm the island connection for your travel dates, then arrange the port-to-hotel transfer. Avoid booking a major activity immediately after arrival. This is a useful afternoon to enjoy the accommodation and become familiar with the local area.

Day 10: A village and island introduction

Choose a short guided introduction or an independent village day, depending on how much structure you enjoy. Oia and Fira are popular, but hotel location, crowds and steps matter when choosing a route. A caldera-view address can involve a different walking experience from a beach-side stay; neither setting automatically guarantees step-free access.

Day 11: A sunset cruise, if it suits you

A sunset sailing can be a highlight, but ask about the boat, boarding arrangements, transfers, group size and physical requirements. Sailings and routes depend on conditions. If you prefer to stay on land, substitute a food, wine or sightseeing experience rather than treating a cruise as essential for everyone.

Day 12: Your choice of beach, food or a slow hotel day

Leave room to enjoy Santorini rather than adding another island. A hotel with a pool, a beach-side base or a particular room category should be selected and confirmed in your quotation. Pool access, a private pool, an infinity pool and a caldera view are separate features, not interchangeable promises. Explore our Santorini destination guide before choosing your stay.

Days 13–14: Return to Athens and fly home

On Day 13, return to Athens using the confirmed flight or ferry arrangement and stay overnight. Keep the afternoon flexible in case transport schedules change. On Day 14, take your arranged airport transfer for the international flight.

For a US departure, compare the complete journey before booking: departure city, any European connection, arrival time in Greece and the final flight home. Do not assume a domestic island connection and an international flight are protected together when they are booked separately. Your planner can review a practical itinerary, but the actual ticket conditions determine the protection available.

Which Go Epic Tours itinerary is the best starting point?

Athens, Naxos and Santorini: our 11-day Athens, Naxos & Santorini vacation is the closest existing starting point. It includes a Naxos cooking class and a Santorini sunset cruise, private transfers and local support. The 14-day route above adds time and a different night allocation; request an extended quotation rather than assuming the published 11-day price covers the extra nights.

Athens, Milos and Santorini: choose our 11-day Athens, Milos & Santorini vacation as an alternative starting point if dramatic coastal scenery and a boat excursion appeal more than Naxos villages and cooking. The Milos boat route, including access to Kleftiko, is subject to conditions. A Santorini sunset cruise is optional on this product. Additional nights and optional activities need a separate quote.

Athens, Crete and Rhodes: our 13-day Athens, Crete & Rhodes vacation is a different two-week starting point for travellers who want Chania, Heraklion and Rhodes instead of a Cyclades route. Ask about extending the stay to 14 days. This route should be planned on its own merits, not added to Naxos and Santorini within the same two weeks.

Private transfers, shared experiences and local support: what to confirm

Private road transfers mean the arranged vehicle service is for your travelling party. They do not make a scheduled ferry, commercial flight, cooking class or cruise private. Selected shared activities can help manage the budget, while private guiding or other upgrades can be quoted where available.

Before confirming, ask for the hotel names and room categories, the number of nights in each place, included transport, private versus shared activity details, luggage arrangements and the contact process for local support. Explain any concerns about steps, walking distances or boat boarding before suppliers are selected. A tailor-made itinerary still needs realistic connection times and confirmed availability.

How much should you budget for two weeks in Greece?

There is no single reliable price for this suggested 14-day itinerary. Travel dates, hotel location and room category, party size, transport and private versus shared experiences all affect the quotation. Extra nights also change the total, so a shorter tour's advertised starting price is not the price of this two-week plan.

When comparing proposals, check the same night count, hotel standard, room basis, meals, private transfers, island tickets, guided activities and exclusions. Confirm the currency explicitly: Go Epic Tours' published Greece tour starting prices are per person in Canadian dollars, based on two adults sharing a room. US travellers should not read the same number as a US-dollar quotation. Your written quotation confirms the travel dates, availability and inclusions. International flights, insurance, local hotel taxes and optional activities should only be treated as included when the written quote lists them.

Questions about a 14-day Greece itinerary

Is two weeks enough for Greece?

Two weeks are enough for a rewarding first trip focused on Athens and two islands. They are not enough to see every region comfortably. Three main bases plus a final Athens overnight provide a more relaxed framework than changing islands every day or two.

Should I choose Naxos or Milos?

Naxos is a useful starting choice for village visits, cooking and sandy-beach time. Milos suits travellers drawn to distinctive coastal landscapes and boat experiences. Compare your preferred activities and walking or boarding requirements, then adjust the itinerary rather than adding both automatically.

What if I have only ten days?

Reduce the stops or the time in each place instead of copying this schedule into a shorter holiday. Our 10-day Greece itinerary covers Athens, Mykonos and Santorini with a different night allocation.

Can I include Turkey in the same two weeks?

Yes, but that is a different route with less time in Greece. Use our 14-day Turkey and Greece itinerary for that comparison. This article keeps the full two weeks in Greece.
